Cork Gaeltacht Residency Inspires Works That 'RESONATE'

Updated: Jul 18

In 2021 I was awarded the Music Network RESONATE residency & bursary award, which allowed me to travel to Baile Bhúirne in the Gaeltacht Mhúscraí for 10 days to develop new work.

I recruited the help of two collaborators to join me for a number of days over the course of this residency, and as a trio we created five pieces of music celebrating local history, lore and beliefs. We had the generous support of Music Network, and also of the Ionad Cultúrtha to carry out this work - their support meant we could immerse ourselves completely on each visit.

The work is macaronic, meaning it bounces between two languages: English and Irish.

Learn more about the residency, and listen to the new work I created with Dr. Alec Brown and Hannah Nic Gearailt at this link
